Re: NON-INDEXATION of UK AGE PENSIONS
I am a British citizen of State Pension age living in Australia. I used to live in your constituency as a resident of [ ] for [ ] years.
Now as a British Pensioner living in Australia I receive a FROZEN PENSION. This is due to the UK Governments’ ongoing frozen pension policy based on a two tier system of countries whereby pensioners in some countries are NOT eligible to receive INDEX LINKED pensions and pensioners in other countries ARE eligible.
There is no reasonable or logical explanation as to why various countries are deemed to be FROZEN COUNTRIES, these include Commonwealth countries such as India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Australia, Canada and Trinidad. But in the USA, Israel, Liechtenstein, Jamaica, the EU and the Philippines etc. the UK’s pension IS indexed for inflation.
I ask if you would please support the ALL PARTY PARLIAMENTARY GROUP established by SIR ROGER GALE in April 2014 email@example.com to deal with the issue of UNFREEZING the pensions of all UK STATE PENSIONERS who are unfairly treated and discriminated against based solely on where they now reside.
We are NOT asking for the recovery of any retrospective payment of the money we have already lost in past years. We are merely asking that all UK State Pensioners receive an indexed pension no matter where in the world they live. It is a matter of simple and basic justice between groups of people who have all paid the same required contributions.
The Rule of Law requires laws be fair and equal, the Social Security Benefits Uprating [Pensions] Regulation, which causes some pensions to be frozen is neither fair nor does it demonstrate equality.
