The BPiA “Drop-in” frozen Pensions Information Session for MPs and Senators on 2nd August 2023 in Parliament House was a great success!
BPiA was represented by our President Patrick Edwards and his wife Colleen, Garry Gordon, Chris and Peta Mackenzie.
The Drop-In session went well. Staff present said they had never seen so many MPs either turn up or send representatives for an information session.

Four MPs signed our Coreflute Petition.
Among them were Ian Goodenough
Patrick had a meeting with Amanda Rishworth (Social services Minister) which went well. She has been a long time supporter of our cause, and is constantly reminded by her constituents!

and Dave Smith

Seven MPs turned up:
Stephen Bates (Greens), Julie Collins (ALP), Ian Goodenough (Liberal), Henry Pike (LNP), Sam Rae (ALP), David Smith (ALP) and Andrew Wilkie (Independent).
Seven more sent members of their staff to represent them:
Alison Byrnes (ALP), Luke Howarth (LNP), Stephen Jones (ALP), Sam Lim (ALP), Peta Murphy (ALP), Llewellyn O’Brien (LNP) and Zali Steggall (Independent).
** Please thank them for their participation **
It was interesting that several of the MPs said they had parents who had received or were receiving UK state pensions and took away the trifold with the intention of suggesting that they join BPiA!
They all said they had received letters and emails from people in their constituency.
** Thank you to Everyone who did that **
No Senators attended because our Drop-In session coincided with the proposed re-submission of the Housing Bill to the Senate – Unfortunate timing!
